Junior, Senior, and Open Fish Tournament Rules and Schedule

 

THE REEL DEAL FISHING TOURNAMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME THROUGH THE COMPLETION OF THE CAPTAINS MEETING ON OCTOBER 13, 2023 12:45 PM.

ANGLERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR STAYING CURRENT ON ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS THROUGH THE COMPLETION OF THE TOURNAMENT.

 

 

Junior and Senior Tournament Schedule

Day One, Friday October 13, 2023:

11am-Tournament Check In

You must check-in between 11am and 12:45pm at designated location near boat ramp. Bring any ice chests, boats or other water craft you will use during the Tournament, they will be checked.

12:45 pm-Captain’s Meeting

Each team or Angler must attend. It will be the same location as the check in.

1:00 pm-Fishing begins (a horn will sound)

6:15-Weigh In

Anglers must be in line by 6:15 pm to be eligible to weigh fish. Weighing will begin at 6:30 pm.

Bring your fish to be weighed at the designated location. If you must leave early or catch your daily allowance early, you may weigh in early.

 

Day Two, Saturday October 14, 2023:

6:45 am-Check In

Anglers and ice chests, boats and other water craft need to be checked in by 6:45am.

7 am-Fishing begins (a horn will sound)

12:45 pm-Weigh In

Anglers must be in line by 12:45 pm to be eligible to weigh fish. Weighing will begin at 1 pm.

Bring your fish to be weighed at the designated location. If you must leave early or catch your daily allowance early, you may weigh in early.

2 pm-Junior and Senior Tournament Winners Announcement

You must be present to win!

1 pm-Fishing for Tagged Fish opens to the public!

 

 

 

Junior and Senior Tournament Rules

  1. The rules may be changed, at any time, through the Captain’s Meeting.

  2. This is an Angler Tournament. All Anglers, Juniors and Seniors, must be paid and registered prior to midnight, October 12, 2023.  No refunds of entry fees will be given.

  3. Eligible Species: Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Catfish, Largemouth Bass and Bluegill. You can use any or a combination of the species listed for weigh in. Only Trout will be tagged for additional prizes.

  4. Bait: Live or Artificial

  5. Day One fishing starts at 1pm, October 13, 2023. No lines in water prior to this time. A horn will sound when the fishing begins. 

  6. Day Two fishing starts at 7am, October 14, 2023. No lines in water prior to this time. A horn will sound when the fishing begins.

  7. All fishing and angling methods must comply with current Federal and State fishing Regulations. All Anglers must have a valid fishing license.

  8. Fish must be caught by hook and line. Hand held rods and reels only.

  9. Eligible fish may be caught by land, kayak or any boat in compliance with Jackson Flat Reservoirs policies.  Only electric motors are allowed. Any size boat is allowed, even if it has a gas motor, but the gas motor MUST be propped up and the boat may only be propelled by an electric motor or oars. NO GAS MOTORS are allowed on Jackson Flat Reservoir.

  10. ATTENTION: IF you have a boat or watercraft you will be using during this fishing tournament, it is mandatory that you complete an online Mussel-Aware Boater training prior to event and you MUST HAVE YOUR CERTIFICATE with you at check-in.   11. Life Jacket must be worn on the water during tournament. You will be disqualified if you take it off before you are on land. There will be spotters watching for rule breakers.

  12. Fish can be weighed in dead or alive. No rotten or mutilated fish will be weighed.

  13. All fish will be weighed in at the boat ramp parking lot at designated times. There is a limit of four fish per person. BRING YOUR OWN SEATS FOR WEIGH IN since you may NOT leave and comeback with your fish. If you want or have to leave early you may take your fish to early weigh in which will end your day of fishing.

  14. Day One weigh in will begin at 6:30 pm, October 13, 2023. Anglers must be in line by 6:15 pm to be eligible to weigh fish. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  15. Day Two weigh in will begin at 1 pm, October 14, 2023. Anglers must be in line by 12:45 pm to be eligible to weigh fish. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  16. Any fish being weighed in containing lead or any other foreign matter will be subject to disqualification of Angler as determined by the weigh master. All fish need to be properly cared for.

  17. In the event of a tie, the Angler or Team who has the biggest single weighing fish will be the tie breaker.

  18. Be respectful to other boats. Do not encroach on their territory. No transferring fish between boats. Spotters will be watching for such activities.

  19. Tournament Winners Must Be Present at Awards to complete a W-9 form for their winnings. It will be at the same location as weigh in on October 14, 2023 directly after weigh in scores are tallied. Winnings will be paid by check the following week. They will be available for pick up at Kane County Water Conservancy District at 725 E. Kaneplex Dr. Kanab, on Friday October 20, 2023, between 9 am and 5pm or can be mailed to you Friday at the address you provide.

  20. The Honor System applies throughout the entire tournament. Good sportsmanship is a necessity! NO CHEATING!

  21. If there should be a dispute of any kind the decision of the Tournament Director will be final. Protests must be accompanied by a cash fee of $500.00 which will be returned only if the protest is upheld.

  22. Tournament Directors decision is final.

  23. NO helping other people catch their limit and only one pole per person.

  24. NO Anglers allowed fishing during the tournament that are not registered. To assure this, you will have a number that must be worn at all times during tournament hours, visible to spotters.

  25. Trout CANNOT be released! If you catch them you must harvest them regardless the size. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  26. Tournament scores for first day will be posted on our Facebook Page, https://www.facebook.com/thereeldealfishingtournament then the winners and final scores will be posted at the end of the tournament.

 

THERE WILL BE A TOTAL OF 100 TAGGED FISH.  If you catch a tagged fish, you get the prize that coordinates to the number on the tag along with any other winnings you may get.

After the event, tagged fish can continue to be caught by participants and the public then redeemed for prizes through December 31, 2023 at 5 pm.

Open Fish Tournament Rules

  1. This is an Angler Tournament. 

  2. Eligible Species: Trout

  3. Bait: Live or Artificial

  4. Fishing starts at 1 pm, October 13, 2023 and ends December 31, 2023 for those registered in the Junior or Senior Tournament, and opens to the public October 14, 2023 at 1 pm.

  5. All fishing and angling methods must comply with current Federal and State fishing regulations. All anglers, including Junior anglers, must have a valid fishing license.

  6. Fish must be caught by hook and line. Hand held rods and reels only.

  7. Eligible fish may be caught by land, kayak or any boat in compliance with Jackson Flat Reservoirs policies. Only electric motors are allowed.   9. Trout CANNOT be released. If you catch them you must harvest them regardless the size. They will count as part of your daily limit. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  10. Fish may be brought to the Kane County Water Conservancy District office, at 725 E. Kaneplex Dr. Kanab, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, to be redeemed for prizes.

  11. Cash prizes will be given in check form the week following your fish redemption. If it is after office hours, please leave a message at 435.644.3997 and we will call you to come redeem your fish once we are back in the office.

 

THERE WILL BE A TOTAL OF 100 TAGGED FISH.  If you catch a tagged fish, you get the prize that coordinates to the number on the tag in addition to any other prizes you may win.

Tagged fish may continue to be caught for prizes through December 31, 2022 at 5 pm.
